A convicted murderer has escaped an English prison last night and police are urging people to stay away.

Last night, Thursday, March 24, convicted murderer Shane Farrington escaped from prison around 6.45 pm. Police have warned the public to not approach him and if they have any information or sightings, to call 999.

Escaped convict

Shane Farrington was serving time in HMP Thorn Cross. He was last seen at the prison located in Appleton, Warrington at 6.45 pm on Thursday, March 24. The police have assured the public that they are carrying out multiple searches to find him.

Superintendent Mike Evans said:

We currently have numerous officers carrying out a variety of searches to locate Farrington. While our enquiries are ongoing we’re urging anyone who sees Farrington to not approach him but to instead call Cheshire Constabulary immediately on 999 quoting IML 1230000.

He added:

Officers will be maintaining a presence around the prison and in the local area to provide reassurance to the community. If you have any concerns please do speak to one of them. Information can also be passed on anonymously by calling Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Shane Farrington

Shane Farrington is a 39-year-old man who was found guilty of manslaughter in 2009 after attacking and killing his cellmate at HMP Peterborough on September 11, 2008, the Liverpool Echo reports.

This isn’t the first time Farrington has escaped from prison. He escaped in 2018 after being treated at Norfolk hospital for a head injury.

Farrington was last seen wearing a dark top with white writing on the front, blue jeans, black shoes and a dark coat. He also has a dark rucksack.

It is believed that Farrington has contacts in the Peterborough area.
