This Baby Has A Beautiful Reaction As He Hears His Mother's Voice For The First Time (WATCH)

Bacterial meningitis damaged baby Jonathan's cochlea, leading to him losing his hearing. His parents decided to get him a cochlear implant which would allow him to hear again.

A cochlear implant is sometimes known as a 'bionic ear'. It's a surgically implanted device which uses electrical signals to send sound vibrations to the auditory nerve - allowing the person to hear.

In the video, baby Jonathan's cochlear implant is activated and he hears his mother's voice for the first time. His reaction is so sweet as he drops his dummy in surprise and gives the biggest smile!
