These popular shampoo products are being urgently recalled, here's what you need to know

Unilever, the conglomerate, has issued a voluntary recall of 19 types of dry shampoo aerosol products according to a US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) notice.

The company sells more than 400 products that they sell worldwide. This is the second recall within 2022 for Unilever after internal problems found higher traces of benzene.

According to the announcement, 19 types of dry shampoo aerosol products which have been produced before October 2021 are affected, CBS Newsreports.
The respective products are sold under different brand names, including ‘Dove, Nexxus, Suave, TIGI (Rockaholic and Bed Head), and TRESemmé’.

Serious life-threatening conditions
Benzene is one of the most commonly produced chemicals in the US, and it is used across many industries, and widely found in small levels on certain drugs and detergents.
More under this adMore under this adScientists believe that exposure to benzene leads to serious life-threatening conditions including blood complications, leukemia, and blood cancer of the bone marrow, CBS News reports.
In a statement, Unilever said that the levels of benzene found in the recalled products would not cause a deterioration of health.

Unilever has advised clients who have purchased the respective products to stop using them and has made available a link on their websiteto request a reimbursement.
