The #GeorgeFloydChallenge Hashtag Has Outraged Internet Users

For a few days now, the web has been flooded with shocking photos of young white men imitating the tragic death of George Floyd. With the #GeorgeFloydChallenge, a new wave of hatred has taken over social networks.

'This is very serious'

While the United States, the United Kingdom, and other places around the world have risen up against police violence, some internet users have instead come up with the sickening idea of creating a 'George Floyd challenge.' This challenge consists of having one's picture taken kneeling on the neck of an accomplice, and many young white men have been caught participating in this macabre act.

Some fed up and angry internet users have not hesitated to speak out against this. Following the creation of this challenge, some of the participants were reportedly arrested, but the damage has still been done.

#WhiteLivesMatter, a hijacking which crosses the line

Since the death of George Floyd, the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, which was created to support the fight against racism and police violence, has seen a resurgence. It is therefore a pity that some internet users have hijacked this hashtag, turning it into #WhiteLivesMatter.
