Clean-up crews were seen trying to control water drips as the Oscars' ceiling leaked.

Storm during Oscars 2023

Organizers chose to maintain the ceremony despite heavy flooding that has been going on for weeks in the entire state. During the Oscars ceremony, rain started leaking from the Dolby Theater ceiling. On Sunday afternoon, water was seen dripping from the red curtains that served as a ceiling, under which a whole parade of celebrities posed on Sunday night.

In fact, according to ABC7, a 'drip control team' had been formed in order to control the effects of the storm on the ceremony.

Clean-up crews worked hard for hours to keep the place clean and safe, as celebrities arrived on the champagne-coloured carpet. The crews were seen trying to remove water puddles that had formed on the draped ceiling with giant poles, and the carpet had (fortunately) been covered ahead of the event.

Wardrobe malfunctionsare common ground during any type of ceremony, but US actress Melissa McCarthy suffered one before the Oscars even began! Her dress was designed by Christian Siriano, whose studio suffered from severe flooding after pipes exploded in the days leading up to the event, and the actress' dress was ruined. He succeeded in making a new one from scratch in just a couple of days, and he hand-delivered one of his creations to the Oscars himself.

The designer told E! News 'we were just freaking out all day.' McCarthy is about to play Ursula in the new movie adaptation of The Little Mermaid fairytale and the event was a big one for the designer. According to him, the actress did not know her dress was remade only days before the ceremony.
