The one-off payment is to help some six million people who are paid certain disability benefits.

As the cost of living continues to rise, there is some respite for millions of people in the UK who are eligible for a £150 payment this week. The one-off payment will be made to people who already receive certain disability benefits. According to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP), the amount is to help persons with disability to offset some costs.

The plan to support disabled people on low income with this additional payment was announced in May and will be paid on top of other Cost of Living payments totally £650, £400 for all households to help with energy bills, and an extra £150 for properties in Council Tax bands A-D in England, the government said. Minister for Disabled People, Health and Work Chloe Smith said:

This £150 disability payment is on top of the £1,200 most low income benefit claimants will also receive and alongside wider support targeted at disabled people, including help with transport and prescription costs.
