This recall comes in light of a potential health risk associated with Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Listeria monocytogenes, a pathogenic organism, can lead to severe infections, particularly among vulnerable populations. Although symptoms may be mild in healthy individuals, the risk is amplified for young children, the elderly, pregnant women, and those with compromised immune systems.

Which products are affected?

The recall encompasses all Ice Cream House branded items that are currently available in the market. This includes both Dairy and Non-Dairy [Parve] products such as ice creams, cakes, logs, and novelty items carrying the distinctive 'Ice Cream House' logo.

These products are packaged in various sizes and styles, such as clamshells or cake trays with plastic dome covers. Notably, the recalled items are marked with the 'Ice Cream House' label but lack any lot or date codes.

The recall is an expansion of the earlier recall by Real Kosher Ice Cream, Inc, which involved Soft Serve on the go cups. This subsequent recall is a result of an ongoing investigation after two cases of illness linked to Listeria monocytogenes contamination were reported in New York and Pennsylvania. The affected individuals were hospitalized, though fortunately, there have been no reported fatalities associated with this incident.

FDA states:

The company has ceased the production and distribution of the products as the investigation is ongoing.

It's important to note that Ice Cream products often have a long shelf life, and there's a possibility that they might still be present in your freezer. Therefore, it is recommended that you thoroughly inspect your frozen stock to ensure that no recalled items are present.
