John Lewis and Waitrose offering free food from October-January, are you eligible?
More under this adWith inflation and food prices at an all-time high in the UK, supermarkets John Lewis and Waitrose will be offering their staff free food this winter.
As per the BBC,inflation hit 10.01 % this July, which is the highest it has ever been in the past 40 years. With rising petrol, diesel and energy prices, the cost of food too has seen a staggering hike. As per the report, it was the price of bread, cereals, milk, cheese and eggs that rose the fastest.

But in some good news, BBC reported that supermarkets John Lewis and Waitrose have announced that they would be offering free meals to all their employees starting from October. The two popular UK brands are both owned by the same parent company, John Lewis Partnership.

A spokesman for the John Lewis Partnership told the BBC that an employee working a 4-hour shift would be offered one meal in the day, depending on the hour of their shift. Employees working 8-hour shifts would be offered two meals a day for free.
John Lewis staff working in larger distribution centres or who are working on transportation centres or in the head office can have their free meals in the canteens, while there will be vending machine style food offerings for smaller stores and centres. This program will run from October to January.

The news of its latest food initiative comes right as John Lewis Partnership launched a big recruitment drive. According to Daily Mail, 4000 seasonal roles have been advertised across over 300 Waitrose shops and 2,000 temporary roles have been opened up in over 30 John Lewis. There are also many permanent roles which have been opened.

As per the report, all the employees including those working for john Lewis Partnership through agencies and the temporary hires would benefit from the free food scheme launched by the company.
