This literal book burning took place in Poland on the 31st of March. There's photographic evidence of Catholic priests who publicly burned copies of Harry Potter and Twilight books. An act that took place after a procession through a church.

The works of J.K. Rowling and Stephenie Meyer were burned along with a Hello Kitty umbrella and a Hindu figurine, among other things. The priests claim to have done this to obey "the Word" of God, reports 7sur7.

The Polish episcopate and the local bishop confirmed to AFP that this act had taken place. According to one of the priests from the parish where this took place, "it wasn't about burning just any books, but objects associated with magic and occultism". These books, as well as the other burned objects, had been brought back by faithful church-goers. "Of course, some people will be shocked, but those who know the holy spirit will understand," he commented to channel TVN24.
These priests went after the Harry Potter and Twilight books because of their theme. The first is about a young magician, in a world where magic is omnipresent. The second deals with vampires, werewolves and other fantastic creatures.
