England's most isolated house is up for sale

If ever you were looking to really remove yourself from all traces of civilization in your own little safe haven then this might be just be the house of your dreams.

The only house in sight

What is being called Britain's most remote house has just gone up for sale for the first time since it was built 200 years ago. Skiddaw House, located in Lake District near Cumbria, is almost four miles from the nearest road.

If that wasn't isolated enough for you, consider the fact that no other house or building is anywhere near the vicinity of this particularly secluded residence. The only way of accessing the house is by going through an off-road vehicle through the Skiddaw Mountain.

When we said you would be isolated we really meant it as Skiddaw House has no mobile phone signal, TV, internet or mains electricity—not to mention, any other dwelling across the 3,000 acres of forest. It is power generated by solar panels which is what helps in keeping the house warm during the colder months of the year. The water you will be consuming will come directly from a nearby stream.

Possibilities are endless

In the past, the secluded 19th century style house has been used as a shooting lodge for gamekeepers, a shepherd's dwelling, a school field trip centre, a ramblers bothy. It is currently being used as a youth hostel for those looking for a one-of-a-kind experience to disconnect from both the physical and digital world.

But property and land agency, Mitchells Land Agency, believes that the possibilities that can be done with the space in this residence are abundant. The housing agency said:
