Another nurse arrested for allegedly poisoning 3 babies a week after Lucy Letby in jailed for life

The country was left shaken by the story of Lucy Letby, a nurse who, between 2015 and 2016, murdered 7 babies and tried to kill another 6. Her trial which lasted several months culminated by Letby being found guilty and jailed for life.

Now a week after the end of the trial another story about a murderous nurse has come out. Just like Lucy Letby, this nurse targeted babies and is rumoured to have caused the sudden and unexpected death of a child who was in Intensive Care. It is also reported that she might be responsible for other deaths, making her the killer of 3 children. The crimes were committed between January and May 2022.

Birmingham Live reports that a ‘medic-led investigation into the deaths of three young patients’ was handed to the police. The medical investigation was conducted by staff at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust after incidents that occurred between January and May 2022.

The nurse investigated has been removed and cannot practice
Dr Fiona Reynolds, Chief Medical Officer at the Trust released a statement in which she explains that her main concern is ‘patient safety.’
She says:
In May 2022, a child on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Birmingham Children’s Hospital deteriorated suddenly and unexpectedly. Due to the circumstances of the deterioration, the Trust acted straight away. A member of staff was suspended from work and subsequently arrested at home.More under this adMore under this ad
Following the May 2022 incident which led to the death of the child, the Trust conducted an investigation reviewing the deaths of other young children.
Reynolds said:
An extensive clinical review of deaths and sudden deteriorations in children on the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit has been undertaken by clinicians at the Trust. Their findings have in turn been reviewed by independent experts and shared with the police.More under this adMore under this ad
