In the U.S, in Oregon, this woman decided to wait for six hours in her garden. The reason? She didn’t want to wake the puma which was sleeping in her living room.

This young woman wasn't expecting a guest for the evening. However, in her humble home situated in Oregon in the United Sates, she noticed that a puma had got inside her living room. The young wildcat was sleeping calmly behind her couch. It had got in through the back door of the house, which had stayed opened the whole day.

An expert of the animal world

On social media, Lauren Taylor maintains that she knows a lot about animals. This encouraged her to act gently with the puma. She says she left the animal a sense of freedom, so as not to disturb it. For this reason she stayed away a long time. At first she let the wildcat have a nap.

'But after a person who was also in the house slammed a door, the lioness became agitated and tried to exit through a closed window. After a few minutes, she was calm again,' Taylor writes.

After this disturbance the young woman chose to go to her garden and to look at her guest from behind the glass.

'I wanted to see what she was doing... and she was sleeping! When I made some noise, she woke up and seemed startled, so I gazed lovingly into her eyes, and communicated using feline-speak eye blinking to calm her. It was incredible to realise that it had worked. And after that she fell back asleep,’ she concludes.

A six-hour wait

Lauren Taylor waited over six hours in her garden. She wanted to wait till the puma finished resting in the warm.

‘It was just a couple hours till dawn and we needed to prompt her to leave without alarming her so much that she panicked.’

As soon as the sun rose, the housemates started making quiet noises to gently wake the animal and encourage her to leave. The strategy worked rather well, as the puma understood the message. She left upon waking up.

Lauren thinks that recent forest fires in the region attracted the puma to a safe place. Hopefully she was able to return to the fields without any fears of being burnt.
