This abandoned and disfigured dog with one nostril has become Insta-famous

This rescue dogwith one nostril wasfeared to have been used as bait in illegal dog fighting. The activity made her disfigured and nearly took her life. The pup was heartlessly dumped on the side of the road after her abusers needed her no longer.

Thankfully, she was taken into care by Rescue Dogs Rocks NYC, and her life was transformed. The quirky-looking pooch is now living her best life, enjoying not only a loving family, but quite a lot of Insta-fame too.

Amber was found on the side of the road in a rural area of South Carolina, US. The pup was disfigured beyond belief. It’s suspected that she was used as bait in dog fighting. The activity is illegal in the UK and all 50 states of the US.
Amber’s face was ‘torn to pieces’, and her wounds had become infected. The poor pooch was incredibly underweight.
Thankfully, she was rescued by Rescue Dogs Rocks NYC and provided with much-needed care.

Upon cleaning Amber’s infected wounds, the rescue staff discovered that her nasal passages were ‘almost non-existent’, and the skin and tissue of the organ were damaged beyond repair, Metro writes. The pup had to be sent to Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty for multiple complex face surgeries.
According to surgical vet nurse Nikki Phillipp, who has fostered Amber, the vets ‘had to create two new nasal passages’ for her to breathe through her nose, but only one can be used properly. Nikki said:

The rescue staff provided amazing care to Amber, tackling her newly-diagnosed IBD, hand-feeding her three times a day until she was able to eat on her own, and also giving her medication and training for her severe separation anxiety.

All the hard work paid off, and Amber is now thriving. She is heartworm-negative, of healthy weight and full of energy.
She has a loving home with ‘two rescue doggie siblings’, Boston terrier Alice and the yellow lab Jack who is also her best friend.
