Millions of Brits use this bizarre place to store crisps

You might think that you have a rough idea of how different things should be stored and organised in a kitchen, but new data has revealed that people clearly have divergent views on where different pantry item should be stored. Some of the findings from the study are truly strange and surprising.

As reported by Delish, an AEG study of Brits and their food storage habit reveals confounding findings.

The study inquired about British people and the places where they store different foods. Some of the data that emerged included the following figures:
- According to 71% of cohort, mayonnaise should be stored in the fridge
- On the other hand, a majority of the people thought ketchup (41%) and chocolate (43%) should not be stored in the fridge
- 16% of Brits opt to store their bread in the fridge
- 13% of the people used the fridge for bananas
- The most shocking static was that 5% of Brits are storing their crisps in the fridge with this number rising to 10% in case of Londoners
Expert advice on food storage
Delish interviewed Anna Williams who’s a head chef and sought out her opinion on the findings.
According to her,
Eggs are best kept on a middle fridge shelf close to back in the cardboard they come in.This location in the fridge is best to keep the eggs at a constant temperature and the cardboard boxes provide the perfect level of protection, plus it will have the expiry date on.
She further said that it is safe to store both mayonnaise and ketchup in the cupboard if they have not been opened. Once opened, they should be moved inside the fridge.

Chocolate can be stored in the fridge to increase its shelf life by up to 25% and even frozen to increase it by 50%
According to the report bananas should definitely be kept outside the fridge and storing crisps in the fridge is ‘just plain wrong.’
