Though the McFlurry is an icon among the brand's desserts, it was introduced just recently. According to Mashed, McDonald's McFlurry was first invented in Canada by a franchise owner named Ron McLellan in 1995. He invented this ice-cream dessert at the brand's location in Bathhurst, New Brunswick. This new sweet treat was a creamy and delicious mix of vanilla soft serve with a variety of topping. Over the next year, it became one of the most popular McDonald's desserts.

McDonald's has also optimised the McFlurry recipe to the extent that the brand has actually designed a special McFlurry spoon with a special use. This spoon was specially created such that its square-handle design served the secret use of helping a machine blend ice-cream and toppings mix inside the McFlurry cup. However in recent times, McDonald's has switched these plastic spoons with wooden ones in a bid to reduce waste.

Preparation

  • Mix double cream, condensed milk and vanilla extract today with a hand-blender.
  • Finish up with chopped up pieces of chocolates and whip everything until it is well-mixed
  • Let the mix set in the freezer for a couple of hours
  • Once it is sufficiently cold, your homemade copycat Flurry is ready to be enjoyed. If you want even more deliciousness, you can add toppings of your choice, like Oreos cookies.

If you want to make a Oreo McFlurry, add the cookies inside a bag and crush the Oreos with a rolling pin. Once the Oreo cookies are roughly crushed, add as much cookie as you'd love into your ice-cream right after the blender step is done. Just remember to whip up and combine everything properly before freezing the dessert.

Once cold enough, your super delicious McDonald's inspired ice-cream is ready for you to enjoy! You can serve it in a transparent cup similar to the one by McDonald's and it will definitely taste just like the restaurant version, while looking very similar to the image in the McFlurry advertisement. Just brace yourself to receive loads of impressed comments from friends and family once you share your homemade vanilla treat with them.
