The incident occurred in the early evening, at around 8:30 pm. The man, who lives in the neighbouring town of Magnac-Lavalette, picked up his order at the drive-through of McDonald's in Soyaux, before going to meet friends for the evening.

But before biting into his sandwich, Jérôme repeated his lifelong habit of removing tomatoes from his burger because of his dislike. As he lifts the bun and the steak from his burger, he realises that a piece of paper is stuck to the cheddar, with the number 44 written on it; the number of his order.

'Thank you for reminding me of my order number in the burger' Jérôme laughed after this mishap, which was captured on camera. The disappointed customer then contacted the restaurant in question, without having received any response. When contacted by the local media, Laurent Terrisse, owner of five McDonald's stores in the department, replied:
This customer posted a comment on Facebook, but to my knowledge has not called us. We will therefore reply to him directly.More under this adMore under this ad
The boss added that the incident was taken 'very seriously', and added:
