McDonald's brings back old favourite in latest menu shake-up

After offering up some super deals and a great assortment of festive menu items during the holiday season last year, McDonald’s have ushered in the new year 2023 with some major menu additions and axed some of fan-favourite items.

While many fans are not happy with the fast-food brand axing the Big Tasty Burger which became very popular among fans, McDonald’s diners are finding some consolation in the fact that the brand is bringing back a fan-favourite menu-item from last year, in a brand new avatar.

McDonald’s new menu item

As reported by Chronicle Live,McDonald’s fans can now enjoy the new Double McPlant burger in all of their restaurants. This is a vegan burger and has been described by the company as ‘undeniably delicious.’

Last year, when the McPlant burger was introduced, it became an instant hit. It features a vegan Beyond Meat patty, sesame bun, mustard, ketchup, a delicious sandwich sauce, fresh onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato and vegan cheese. The new Double McPlant is basically a double patty version of the McPlant burger for double the deliciousness.

Fan reactions to the new item

This plant-based burger is vegan-certified with the brand ensuring that it is even prepared in utensils separate from those used to make meat products.

The Chronicle Live article quoted one happy fan as saying,

I have said on many occasions that the McPlant has changed my life, but if there were to be a double McPlant? I can only imagine.

Another one voice similar thoughts, writing,

Double McPlant is a game-changer. I've really enjoyed [the McPlant] the couple of times I've had it, but it's just not big enough.

The McPlant is priced at £4.89 for the burger and £6.49 as part of a meal but prices can vary across locations
