According to Grazia’s website, all you have to do is put a little hot water in your ice cube tray. When you mix hot and cold water and then place the ice cube tray in the freezer, the contents will freeze in less than 30 minutes. This works because the different temperatures create a type of chemical reaction when they come into contact with temperatures below 0°c.
Where does this phenomenon come from?
As Grazia explains, this phenomenon, as amazing as it sounds, is known as the Mpemba effect. It was discovered by Erasto Mpemba, a Tanzanian schoolboy who discovered it back in 1963.
