Skin grafts can save your life, even if they can come from surprising places. For example, one man's life was saved by a skin graft from a fish after he had been badly burned. Trinity Rowles' nose was bit off by a dog, two years ago. To save it, doctors took a piece of skin from her scalp. Here's what happened to her.

Trinity's nose was bit off by a dog

In 2022, Trinity Rowles, from Pennsylvania, saw her life taking a turn for the worst when her dad's Pitbull and Bully cross-breed dog brutally attacked her, for no apparent reason. The dog bit off a part of her nose, leaving her disfigured. Trinity was immediately rushed to the hospital, and doctors did all they could to save her face.

They came up with a solution: taking a part of her scalp to fix her nose. The 20-year-old nursing student had to undergo extensive surgeries to fix her face. Luckily for Trinity, the skin graft was successful. However, her nose quickly started growing hair, as the skin had been taken from her scalp.

She holds her head up high

Today, Trinity still suffers from PTSD, a condition caused by the shock of the attack. She experiences vivid nightmares and flashbacks, but she has chosen to fight to get her life back. Trinity made a TikTok account where she documents her road to recovery, as well as educating people on the consequences of reconstructive surgery. Her videos triggered waves of support, as well as hate. She told her followers:

I have a little message here: I am thankful to those who have been in my corner since day one. To the haters, ignore it because I am the voice of so many and it's truly bringing me closer to people who's had the same thing happen to them.

Trinity's message is also one of confidence and body positivity. Indeed, she has taken control of how she perceives herself, and in the process gave a boost to a lot of people online, who do not feel confident. Trinity beautifully concluded:

I am beautiful, I am confident, I am proud of who I am. I don't care about what anybody else has to say. I will not reconsider embracing what I look like, my imperfections, because everybody is imperfect and we should love everybody the same.
