One vegan couple were sentenced for feeding their baby nothing but mashed potato

Robert and Julia, a couple in Titusville, Florida, became parents last year. Asvegans, the couple wanted to raise theirchildin line with their beliefs, so they sought advice from a nutritionist on appropriate meals.

Unhappy with the professional recommendations they received, they decided to feed their baby a diet entirely made up of mashed potatoes.

At 5 months old, the baby weighed just 8 pounds. The neighbours saw the child visibly withering away, and decided to alert social services, who deemed the child to be nearing death. Robert and Julia were put in prison to await judgement. The hospital took over taking care of the baby, feeding him through a tube. In a few weeks, the child already gained 1 pound.
