Tetra-Amelia occurs due to a gene mutation and is extremely rare, affecting only 1 in 100,000 births and is characterised by the absence of limbs. However, the disease can also affect the skeleton, face and other organs. Many babies born with Tetra-Amelia often have breathing issues and do not survive long past infancy.
