Winter Love Island: Here’s who the show bosses signed to bring in diversity on the show

Love Island is often slammed for their lack of diversity on the show. Last Year, the show bosses tried to remedy it by adding Tasha Ghouri – the first-ever deaf contestant on the show. This year, Love Island plans to go one step beyond and here’s how they’re doing it.

First-ever blind contestant

According to The Sun, ITV2’s dating reality show has signed up its first-ever blind contestant for this series. Meaning, the winter series is set to welcome 26-year-old Ron Hall who lost sight in his right eye.

Ron’s disability arose from a football accident that happened to him when he was a youngster. The partially blind hunk is a finance worker from Essex and allegedly is currently in South Africa in Quarantine. A show source said:

Ron is a great guy, he’s got loads of mates and is sports-mad, he loves golf and has recently taken up boxing.

He’s keen to meet new people and, hopefully, find love.

He’s also really open about his disability and is hoping to raise awareness and help others by discussing it on screen.

Excitement for Ron

Winter Love Island – where contestants would have dormant accounts and amped-up security this time – is set to start in a week. All the chosen Islanders are expected to be in self-isolation in South Africa right now. Show bosses and ITV are excited to bring Ron on the show as there are very few blind people on Telly.
