Candace Bushnell, author of Sex and the City, is currently in the process of writing a new novel true to the original cult series.

Do you miss the leading ladies of Sex and the City? Surprise: Candace Bushnell – the author of the book – is working on a new instalment which draws on the work which made her famous. Unfortunately, Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte will not make a return, because the story will be centred around some older women.

A group of fifty-somethings

Sex and the City is set to make a comeback with an all-new female quartet. The new project will be called Is There Still Sex in the City?, and will tell the story of a group of New York friends, who are all over 50 years old. The book will talk about the sexual and romantic relationships of these women - from divorce to bereavement - who want to stay young at all costs. As Candace Bushnell explained to the Deadline media, her goal is to show the lives of 50 to 60 year old women.

'At one time, people who were old enough to retire were not supposed to do much except age and grow up a little, they were not supposed to play sports, start new businesses, move out, have sexual relationships with strangers and start a new life, but that's exactly the life of many women in their 50s and 60s today, and I'm delighted to reflect the richness and complexity of their reality in my book and, now, on the screen.'

Because yes, the idea is already going to be adapted into a series! Paramount Television and Anonymous Content have already purchased the rights to Is There Still Sex In The City?, so let’s hope that it has the same success as Sex and the City!
