Love Island 2022: Fans left uncomfortable during 19-year-old Gemma's sexy dance challenge

As the bombshell beauty is only 19 years of age, many viewers felt it was inappropriate to see her give fellow islanders a sexy dance.

Too young for Love Island?

Many took to social media to voice their disapproval with ITV saying that she is much too young to be on the show to even begin with. As the girls each took turns to show off their seductive dancing skills, Gemma Owen did not hold back to show the boys what she was capable of. Unfortunately, this seemed to trigger a rather negative reaction from viewers. One fan said:

Seeing Gemma on a show like this is so uncomfortable to me bc she’s 2 years younger than me and it’s so weird... I still think it should be 21+.

While another wrote:

Pls Gemma in today’s challenge made me so uncomfy she’s 19!!!

And a third quipped:

Producers probably told Gemma to tone it down a notch for that challenge due to her age #LoveIsland

Significant age gap

This isn't the first time that concerns over her age have been brought up. At the beginning of the series, fans were equally as turned off at the idea of Owen coupling up with 27-year-old Italian stallion, Davide Sanclimenti, as they believed the age gap was much too significant.

Despite her young age, Gemma, as well as her famous father Michael Owen, have stated that she is mature enough to participate in the matchmaking show. She explained that what she lacks in age she more than makes up for by being level-headed enough to make good decisions for herself.
