ITV refuse to cancel Love Island Summer and the first name rumoured to enter the villa revealed

The word 'selfish' has been thrown around quite a bit the past couple weeks to describe that Brits that flagrantly ignored the recommendation to 'stay at home' amidst the coronavirus pandemic. It seems that COVID-19 is finally being taken seriously in the UK, as the government announced the drastic measures they're putting in place effective this week. PM Boris Johnson announced yesterday (March 23 2020) that 'people may only leave home to exercise only once a day, to travel to and from work when absolutely necessary, to shop for essential items, and to fulfil any medical or care needs.'

'The next 12 weeks could 'turn the tide of this disease', Boris Johnson said during a press conference just last week, adding it was possible to 'send coronavirus packing in this country, but only if we all take the steps we have outlined'.A statement that gave Love Island's producers hope for the upcoming series. 

ITV bosses reassured the show's fans in a statement relayed by MailOnline:

The team are still committed to the series airing this summer. The show will go on. Production on Love Island have been told the upcoming series is still scheduled to take place but the show will launch a month later in July. All the usual preparations are going ahead, It was claimed this weekend that Love Island's summer series had been 'flung into jeopardy by the coronavirus outbreak' and 'plans for the ITV2 show had been delayed until after Easter.

Despite the coronavirus treats, execs claim Love Island will be launched later on this year, and a source revealed that 'potential islanders are still being approached as it can take weeks to recruit the right cast'. Love Island producers may have even found their first contestant.

Rumour has it that Scottish model Adam Rhazali might be one of the contestants to enter the villa this summer. Adam, 19, already has a decent following on Instagram with 33k followers. He definitely is the type to fit in perfectly in the villa.

Meanwhile, strict restrictions in Majorca were put in place last week. All hotels and tourist accommodations were shutdown. Almost all establishments have been ordered to close to stop the spread of the virus. Only time will tell is the show will air.
