The man who entered the Queen's residence with a crossbow has been charged with treason
The man who was found with a crossbow on the grounds of Windsor Castle on Christmas day has been charged under the Treason Act after more than six months.
On Christmas Day, 20-year-old Jaswant Singh Chail was detained on the grounds of Windsor Castle with a weapon. He had a crossbow and a motive to be on the grounds, however, after months of the incident, he has finally been charged under Treason Act.

Revenge motive
Jaswant had previously claimed that he had a grudge against the royals. He was accused of threatening to kill Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in retaliation for a carnage during the colonial period.
More under this adMore under this adMirror confirms that Southampton resident Jaswant Singh Chail was also accused of possessing an offensive weapon. Chail was placed in a section under the Mental Health Act not long after his arrest. And now more than six months after the incident, he has been charged and will make his court appearance later this month.
Jaswant has been charged with an offence under Section 2 of the Treason Act, 1842 - threats to kill and possession of an offensive weapon - following an investigation by the Met Police Counter Terrorism Command. He is currently in custody and is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday - August 17.

According to The Guardian, the Treason offence was brought under the 1842 Treason act that states it is an offence to assault the Queen or to have an offensive weapon in her presence with the intention of harming her. The head of CPS’s special crime and counter-terrorism division – Nick Price, said:
The CPS has authorised the Metropolitan police to charge Jaswant Singh Chail with offences after he was arrested in the grounds of Windsor Castle on 25 December 2021 carrying a crossbow.More under this adMore under this ad
The CPS reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against Chail are active and that he has the right to a fair trial.
