Will Princes William and Harry meet up in NYC? Here's why it won't happen

Royal Family fans have hoping for a reunion between brothers Prince William and Prince Harry, ever since the latter left the Firm to move to California with his wife, Meghan Markle. It so happens that both brothers were supposed to visit New York City at the same time next month, in September 2024, which revived speculation of a possible reunion. However, it seems Prince Harry will be the only one visiting the Big Apple.

Both brothers were expected to visit NYC at the same time

In September 2024, Prince Harry will be in New York City on the third week of the month, as reported by the Daily Mail:

The Duke of Sussex will be in town to advance a number of his patronages and philanthropic initiatives.

He will also attend the Diana Award ceremony, which is a tribute to the Princes' mother, Princess Diana, to reward powerful young people. The event has confirmed the Prince's attendance:

In our 25th year, The Diana Award is delighted to be leading an event with Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex in New York this September. The event will be driven by young people and their insights on the biggest issues facing their generation today.

Luckily enough, his estranged brother, Prince William, was expected to attend his Earthshot Prize Innovation Summit, which takes place on September 24, in New York City. This was enough to send a wave of hope for a reunion among royal fans, but sadly, it will probably not happen.

Prince William will not travel after all

Indeed, Express has exclusively revealed that Prince William will most likely not attend the summit, and therefore he will not be in the same city as his brother. In recent years, both brothers have appeared on separate video links during the ceremony, which is what Prince William might choose to do, in order to support the charity without joining the stage. According to an anonymous source:

William is not due at the event because he has other plans. It's not an event Wills was ever due to attend but I'm sure there will be speculation that he's pulled out because Harry will be there. But it's simply not true.

Meghan Markle will not be part of the NYC trip

An insider also revealed that Meghan Markle will not travel with her husband, in order to keep focus on the Prince's patronages. According to Express:

The trip will support Harry's work with his patronages.

Another source also explained that there is nothing wrong within the couple, and there is no hidden meaning behind Meghan Markle's absence from the New York City trip. The source argued:

Meghan doesn't have to attend every event with her husband. If she skips an event, it doesn't mean there is anything wrong between them.

The reason for her absence would appear to be a selfless attempt to avoid drawing the public eye away from the issues at hand.

She's happy for him to take this one on his own to shine a light on what really matters to him.

Thus, it appears Prince Harry will have to see the sights on his own, although his trip will most likely be packed with events.
