The Mercedes driven by driver Henri Paul crashed into a parapet. The driver died, as did Lady Di and her companion at the time, Dodi Al-Fayed. Only one person survived this horrific accident, Trevor Rees-Jones, who was Dodi Al-Fayed's bodyguard.

A surprising destiny
He then handed in his resignation to Dodi Al-Fayed's father, before moving to his mother and stepfather's home in Shropshire. Trevor Rees-Jones went on to work in a sports shop.
