Ever since Prince William married Kate Middleton back in 2011 he has strangely never worn a wedding ring. This is clearly not a Royal Family rule, as both Prince Charles and Prince Harry don their rings loyally.

A choice of his own

Prince William claims that he doesn't wear a ring for one simple reason, it's just a personal preference.

His decision to abstain from a wedding ring was actually announced prior to his wedding ceremony, and St James' Palace confirmed the news. As it turns out, William does not like to wear jewellery and a wedding ring is no exception.

Prince Phillip also refused to wear a wedding band

Prince William isn't the only Royal man to go without this symbol of commitment. His grandfather, Prince Phillip also doesn't wear a ring despite being married to Queen Elizabeth for more than 70 years.

Kate Middleton does, however, wear a ring, and a rather expensive one at that. Kate's lavish wedding ring was constructed from gold taken from the Clogau St David's mine at Bontddu in Northern Wales.

The same mine also produced the material for the rings of Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, and also William's own mother,Princess Diana.
