When Prince William was younger he got a proper scolding from the Queen after playing with his cousins.

When Prince William was a child he caused quite a bit of drama one time up at Balmoral whilst playing with two of his cousins which resulted in young William getting the scolding of his life by his grandmother.

Even though William is a Royal, it doesn’t mean he doesn’t play like any other kid in the world. One time, Prince William was at Balmoral with his cousins Peter and Zare, Princess Anne’s two children and caused quite the commotion.

In an interview for the Queen’s 90th birthday, Prince William told the story that resulted in a massive scolding by the Queen.

The Duke of Cambridge told Sky News that he and his cousin Peter were having fun on some quad bikes:

We were chasing Zara around who was on a go-cart, and Peter and I managed to herd Zara into a lamppost.

The Prince added:

And the lamppost came down and nearly squashed her, and I remember my grandmother being the first person out at Balmoral running across the lawn in her kilt.

He then finished the talk about the incident with:

(She) came charging over and gave us the most almighty b******ing, and that sort of stuck in my mind from that moment on.

Just like any other family

Despite being the Royal Family, behind closed doors they are just like any other family in the world. It’s only natural that kids muck about and sometimes get into trouble.

The Queen’s reaction to young Zara Phillips nearly getting squashed is the kind of reaction any grandmother would have if their granddaughter nearly got seriously hurt.

During the same interview, Prince William talks about how his grandmother became a really important influence for him after his mother, Princess Diana died. She was a ‘strong female influence’ for the young Prince.

So she's been incredibly supportive and I've really appreciated her guidance.

It seems that despite the massive scolding he had as a child, their bond had remained strong as Prince William spends a lot of time with the Queen. Just a few days ago the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were seen at Frogmore with their three children spending some quality time with the Queen, alongside Princess Beatrice and her five-month-old daughter Sienna.
