However, while there is quite a bit of shaking hands and smiling, this is actually part of their jobs. Indeed, royals have a duty to attend numerous events throughout the year and meeting people is an important part of those events. By connecting with the crowd, the members of the royal family can ensure the longevity of the monarchy and that’s how they keep their popularity.

Prince Williams and Kate are ‘busy working royals’
On the Royal Family website, there is a page dedicated to what the role of the family is. Primarily, working royals ‘support The King’ and ‘carry out important work in the areas of public and charitable service.’

The work they do is mostly focused on ‘supporting the charity sector’ and ‘supporting the Armed Forces.’
Prince William
Prince William and his wife, as senior members of the Royal Family are part of many of these engagements. Prince William’s work is built around 6 themes which are sure to keep him incredibly busy. Very recently, Prince William launched Homewards which is described as a ‘ a five-year, locally led programme that will aim to demonstrate that together it’s possible to end homelessness.’
More under this adMore under this adFurthermore, Prince William is very dedicated to causes that tackle climate change and mental health. He is also the Patron of a number of organisations such as Wales Air Ambulance and Centrepoint.
Princess of Wales
Just like her husband, the Princess of Wales is a very busy individual. Her work is centred around 5 themes which include Visual Arts, Sports and Children’s Mental Health.

I have seen that experiences such as homelessness, addiction, and poor mental health are often grounded in a difficult childhood. But I have also seen, how positive protective factors in the early years can play a critical role in shaping our futures too.
When it comes to Visual Arts, the Princess of Wales is known to be an excellent photographer. More than that, this is what she studied at St Andrews University where she met Prince William. This interest has also led her to being the Patron of institutions such as the National Portrait Gallery, the V&A and the Royal Photographic Society.

Prince William and Kate are full time parents
Even though both Prince William and his wife are busy with their royal duties they both have another role that they chose to put first over anything else: being parents.

Indeed, when he launched Homewards, Prince William shared his desire to expose his children to social causes early on in their lives.
The same goes for the Princess of Wales. Throughout the year she has been seen several times going on school runs and, according to The Mirror, she has been seen to take her children to the pool in Buckingham Palace.

They instead chose a quieter royal house, Adelaide Cottage, in Windsor. This move has allowed their children to be closer to Kate Middleton’s parents.
It seems that royals, just like the rest of us, have to balance work and personal life. The tiaras and palaces are simply a perk that comes with the job!
