Prince Harry received a lot of hate when he released his memoir Spare. Many have taken apart the Duke of Sussex’s book and have tried to catch him in various lies. The one theme that seems to be recurring is the one about his dad, King Charles, never hugging him as a child.

Indeed, people on social media have been putting in quotes ‘my father has never hugged me’ and then making a video compilation of photos of a young Prince Harry and his father hugging.

Prince Harry never said ‘my father has never hugged me’
As mentioned, the media has used the quote ‘my father has never hugged me.’ However, after some digging, Newsweek found that the sentence ‘my dad never hugged me’ was never used by Prince Harry.
In his book, the Duke of Sussex talked about what it was like growing up within the Royal Family. One of his recollections is when King Charles tells him that his mother, Princess Diana had died.

According to Newsweek, the one time Prince Harry says he ‘never hugged’ was when talking about his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
He recalls his grandmother’s Golden Jubilee concert in 2002:

But of course I didn't. Out of the question. I never had done and couldn't imagine any circumstance under which such an act would be sanctioned.
