Now that Queen Elizabeth II is no more, the Royal Family is set to face changes in the reign of King Charles and looks like it has begun.

The inevitable changes that were supposed to follow after King Charles III ascended to the throne, have finally started being shown. Be it his wish to slim down the monarchy, reconsider the disgraced Prince Andrew’s privileges as a non-working royal or his assessment of his relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, everything is expected to become clearer in the coming months.

The Sussexes are ‘demoted’

Regardless of what the rumours say about a possible reconciliation of the Sussexes with The Firm, a recent change to the Royal website speaks otherwise perhaps. The Independent confirms that the recent change made to the Royal website after Queen Elizabeth II’s death has moved down the Sussex couple to the bottom of the page.

Initially, Prince Harry and Meghan were stated right after Prince William and Kate, however, after they quit The Firm, they were repositioned. MailOnline confirms, the repositioning still placed them between senior Royals and minor Royals.

However, now their position is at the bottom of the page, just above Prince Andrew – whose royal titles were taken away after the sex abuse case. The Sussexes now are placed below the likes of Princess Alexandra (56th in line to the throne), the Duke of Kent and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester (Queen Elizabeth II’s cousins).

What does it mean for them?

One way to look at the said demotion could be to acknowledge King Charles’ wish to slim down the monarchy and modernise it in a way that fits right in today’s world. Cosmopolitan reports that a royal source has explained the change and said:

The change has been made because the Duke and Duchess are no longer working royals, unlike those who now appear above them.

Meanwhile, people on Twitter are conflicted on the change, some feel the Sussexes are lucky to be on the website, even after they’ve quit The Firm, others believe a change in the order doesn’t make a difference as he’s still the son of the King of England.
