Prince Andrew allegedly wants King Charles to give him back his birth right

Prince Andrew allegedly wants to start using his HRH title again. After being stripped of his Royal duties and patronages last year due to his sexual assault scandal, he was ordered not to use the title by his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II. But that could be set to change.

Prince Andrew wants to 'test the waters'

The Duke acknowledges he won't return to Royal duties, however he apparently doesn't understand why he cannot use the HRH title again as he steadfastly denies all allegations against him. After all, his 'trump card' with the late Queen was 'innocent until proven guilty.'

However, whether that works with King Charles II is another question. A source told Ephraim Hardcastle at Daily Mail that the King doesn’t want to spark controversy by formally announcing any change in the Prince’s status. Indeed, the Royal Family already has enough on its plate with the fall-out from Prince Harry’s explosive memoir. The source said:

It is more likely that he will just start using it again in a low-key way to test the waters – should he get the King's consent.

All the children of a monarch are entitled to HRH status. Prince Andrew reportedly wants his 'Prince of the Blood' recognition back so he can attend official Royal engagements again. A source told the Telegraph:

Most importantly for him is his status as an HRH and 'Prince of the Blood' and he feels that should be reinstated and his position recognised and respected.

Hope... or not?

It comes as Prince Andrew could have fresh hope of restoring his reputation after his accuser, Virginia Giuffre, withdrew her allegation against one of his co-accused, Alan Dershowitz. She acknowledged:

I now recognise I may have made a mistake in identifying Mr Dershowitz.

Dershowitz believes that Andrew should try to unseal depositions and videotapes from the case, claiming that they could 'change everything'. Dershowitz also believes that the Duke 'should never have settled' and that 'he will be vindicated.'

However, Andrew faces a new threat as the gag order against Giuffre has been lifted, meaning she can speak publicly about the case in interviews or even publish a book if she wants to.
