Meghan Markle's ex-friend makes shocking claims over relationship: 'I’m going to be royal now'

Since joining the Royal Family, Meghan Markle has been under scrutiny. A comedian once recalled the time she was over two hours late to her own event and now a friend has recalled her relationship with the Duchess of Sussex.

Millie Mackintosh was friends with Meghan for quite a few years before their friendship apparently ended abruptly. The Made in Chelsea star met Meghan in a hotel in Turkey and a friendship quickly blossomed.

However, according to Mackintosh, their friendship ended when Meghan’s relationship with Prince Harry went public. She recently discussed this on the Mumlemmas podcast on May 10.

Millie and Meghan’s bond over failed relationships

Millie revealed on the Mumlemmas podcast that she had met Meghan at a hotel opening in Istanbul, Turkey, 8 years ago. Millie admitted she was a fan of Suits which Meghan was a part of:

We met at the bar and we were both ordering a drink at the same time and just started chatting. We got on really well, we got on like a house on fire.

She then told Charlie Boud, the podcast co-host, that she and Markle had bonded over their respective failed relationships. At the time, Mackintosh was married to Professor Green, a British rapper, and Meghan had split from her first husband, Trevor Engelson.

Millie was Meghan’s guide in London

In the end, the two stayed in touch and Millie apparently became a sort of guide for Meghan when she would visit the UK since the latter didn’t know many people:

When she would come to London, she didn’t know London very well or know that many people

When Meghan was in the UK, the two would apparently often go to brunch and yoga classes. Millie had last seen Meghan in September 2016 at Soho Farmhouse in Oxford:

Meghan then ditched Millie when her relationship went public

Millie explained that during their last time together, Meghan had started messaging Prince Harry. At the time, Millie didn’t press Meghan on the matter:

I didn’t ask too much of it, didn’t really think too much of it at the time. If only I had known.

After it was announced that Meghan and Prince Harry were dating, Mackintosh decided to message her friend as there were a lot of media reports, just to check that she was okay:

I messaged her and just said: ‘Hey, hope you’re okay. Thinking of you,’

However, the Made in Chelsea star revealed that Meghan sent a ‘really abrupt’ reply which Millie decided not to share. She did say that the message was ‘unlike any of our communication before’.

Millie explained that to her, it ‘felt like [Meghan] kind of told me to f*** off, basically’:

She cut me dead. I never heard from her again

My take on it is that…she’s like, ‘I’m going to be royal now, I don’t need Millie in my life.’
