Meghan Markle’s cousin shares new pictures of the Duchess in an exclusive interview

Meghan Markle went from being a discreet American actress to one of the most talked about women in the world in a matter of months. When her relationship with Prince Harry became public, her life was turned upside down. Photographers stayed in front of her Canadian house in hopes of getting a pic. Production of Suits was reportedly impacted by people trying to get access to her.

But, in hindsight, that was nothing compared to the media attention she receives now in 2024 when any action or lack of action is commented on and criticised. Moreover, several members of her family have also revealed details of her life to the press—the latest being her cousin, Shawn Johnson.

Meghan Markle’s cousin gives an interview to Daily Mail

In the exclusive interview that came out on 19 February, Shawn Johnson explains that he and the Duchess haven’t seen each other in over twenty years after growing apart in their twenties.

However, the Duchess’ cousin remains positive throughout the interview. Talking about their relationship as children, he says:

She was always really sweet. She was kind and she always had a star quality about her.

She was infectious with just the way she was and really mature for her age. She was always really looking after us and making sure that we're all doing fine.

He talks about he he wished the two would reconnect and explains that Markle has no contact with her family except for her mother Doria. Her cousin continues to explains that Markle was a big part of his childhood:

Meghan definitely helped make that childhood great – she was a big part of it. It was really nice just going out there for the holidays, hanging out with her.

The pictures shared by Johnson

The pictures Meghan Markle’s cousin gave the tabloid show the Duchess as a new born in her grandmother’s arms. They also show her on holiday with a friend and by a fountain at DisneyLand.

However the most striking image is one of the Duchess in a black hoodie when she is a baby. In the picture she looks straight into the camera and, were we not told this was Meghan Markle, we would think it was Prince Archie.

The tabloids and Meghan Markle’s family

By dating and marrying a British royal, Meghan Markle became a person of interest for tabloids. British tabloids have a reputation of being ruthless, and unfortunately, some members of her family have made matters worse for the royal—whether they intended to, or not.

While she was preparing for her royal wedding, it was revealed that her father had staged photographs of himself getting ready for the ceremony. After that, the relationship between father and daughter unravelled – Markle’s father never made it to the wedding and, reportedly, he has never met either Prince Harry or her children.

Her step-sister also made waves and now her cousin. While he has not said anything bad about the Duchess, the images he shared are being used to drive a narrative that she lied about her modest upbringing.

Some of the pictures he shared show a young Markle in Hawaii and at Disneyland which the Mail reports as ‘a far cry from the modest upbringing she claimed she had in a 2021 letter to Congress, where she described having worked from age 13 and having to 'make ends meet.'

Her cousin fuels that fire when he says:

I don't think any of us were really well off, but we had enough, and she definitely had enough.

Once again Meghan Markle didn't do anything and somehow, she is making headlines.
