King Charles went for his surgery at the London Clinic in Marylebone yesterday and is understood to be doing fine after it. However, it has now emerged that the reason behind choosing this London hospital was to avoid a double security bill. According to The Express, if King Charles would have picked the Royal Family’s favoured hospital - King Edward VII’s - it would have cost an additional £14,000.
This comes as King Charles would have required a second bodyguard whose estimated cost is calculated to be around £14,000. Despite not opting for their favourite hospital, King Charles has not ‘downgraded’ his comfort or facilities in any way. Reportedly, The London Clinic is a ‘luxurious’ go-to hospital for Royals and many other public figures. Patients at this hospital are served by an in-house chef, confirms The Sun.
