Already in the line of fire after his Mother's Day post, King Charles faces backlash (again) over reports that he plans to exclude Prince Harry's children from his Coronation in May.

It has not yet been confirmed whether Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet have received invitations for King Charles' coronation. However, recent reports have suggested that they may be too young to participate and that the invitation has not been extended to the young royals.

Australian journalist Daniela Elser commented on the King's alleged decision, arguing:

The King has left his grandchildren Prince Archie and Princess Lili out of his coronation plans. And that is a huge mistake.

The commentator argues that not including all of his grandchildren in the Coronation could be a 'huge mistake' for the monarchy's future. She wrote:

Reports have suggested that the selection of guests who will fill the Abbey's pews will be a representative cross-section of a multicultural 21st century Britain. Leaving Archie and Lili out of the whole three-day event makes something of a mockery of all that enthusiastic drum-banging about just how smashing this inclusiveness business is. How can the King bring a politically, culturally and socially fractured Britain together if he doesn't even have it in him to bring all of his grandchildren together?

Archie and Lilibet are 'completely innocent'

Daniela Elser also explained that Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet are 'completely innocent' and have got nothing to do with the ongoing war between the Firm and the Sussexes. She added that, although we do not know if Prince Harry and Meghan will even attend the Coronation, excluding their children could ensure that they don't attend. It could also make the family feud last for generations.

King Charles will not include all his grandchildren

King Charles' other grandchildren, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, are expected to have important roles in their grandfather's historic Coronation. Even the Queen Consort's teenage grandchildren will be given important tasks in the ceremony. Daniela Elser adds:

He is failing as a grandfather and a monarch if he does not find some way to make it abundantly clear that Archie and Lili are equally loved and equally his grandchildren as the young Waleses.

Charles so very clearly wants to be on the right side of history when it comes to his commitment to climate change, conservation and equality – but all that hard work and forward-looking sweat and effort could be about to be undermined by a three-year-old and a one-year-old.
