Donald Trump gets annoyed when Barron Trump speaks Slovenian

It was revealed in 2020 that Donald Trump reportedly experiences frustration when his wife, Melania Trump, and their son, Barron Trump, communicate in Slovenian—a language he does not understand. According to News18, Barron is fluent in Slovenian, his mother’s native language, and the two often converse in it in front of U.S. Secret Service agents and Trump. As per Mary Jordan, author of ‘The Art of Her Deal,’ this language barrier has Trump feeling left out, particularly during private family conversations where he has no idea what is being said.

She highlighted, while on CBS News in 2020, that Barron was primarily raised by Melania and is also very close to her parents. Jordan said that the family unit has its own dynamic that excludes Trump, which annoys him. She said:

There’s a unit within the family unit, and it’s Melania, her mother, her father, and Barron. And they all speak Slovenian. And it’s kind of interesting: the Secret Service has no idea what they’re saying.

She claims that Trump has expressed annoyance over the language barrier and has never made an attempt to learn it either. She added:

Melania and Barron Trump’s close bond

It has often been reported that Melania is ‘very protective’ of Barron and has almost no friends who actually know her. The 54-year-old usually keeps to herself and prefers to spend time with her family and son rather than socializing in broader circles.

As Barron has grown older, this bond has become even more apparent, with Melania focusing intensely on his well-being and future. At the time of Donald Trump’s hush money case, a source told People Magazine:

Barron has always been a first priority in [Melania’s] life. Of course, she is worried and concerned about the legal issues, but she has not done anything more to protect Barron now than she ever did. She has always put him first. She is a good mother.

Interestingly, Melania has no friends and her ‘friends are her family members,’ according to a Palm Beach source. They added that many Mar-a-Lago Club members see her, but none of them get together with her as she’s focused on her son and family.

Jordan also added that Barron is particularly close to Melania’s father as both her parents spent ‘huge amounts of time in the White House’ when the family lived there.

Melania Trump’s parents: Everything we know about them

Melania Trump’s parents, Viktor and Amalija Knavs, have been integral figures in her life, deeply influencing her upbringing and supporting her throughout her journey from Slovenia to the United States. Originally from Slovenia, Viktor Knavs worked as a chauffeur and later as a traveling car salesman, while Amalija was a patternmaker at a children's clothing factory. It was Amalija’s involvement in fashion that first exposed Melania to the world of modeling and style, which eventually led to her career as a model.

The Knavs family lived a relatively affluent life in Slovenia, taking vacations in countries like France, Italy, and Germany, reports People Magazine. Viktor and Amalija moved to the United States after Melania got married to Trump.
