With her music and her boundless passion for life, she enchanted millions of fans around the world and inspired the stars of tomorrow. Today we say goodbye to a dear friend who leaves us all her greatest work: her music. All our heartfelt compassion goes out to her family. Tina, we will miss you dearly.

Tina Turner was an icon and a survivor

The singer was probably one of the world's greatest artists. She became the icon of generations with her hit songs such as Proud Mary, survivor anthem What's Love Got To Do With It? and The Best. The star began her career in the 1960s in the United States in a duet with her ex-husband Ike Turner. Tina Turner openly spoke out on the domestic abuse her ex-husband put her through, and her struggles in life were turned into an Oscar-winning biopic in 1993.

After she had the courage to walk out from her abusive marriage, Tina Turner launched her very own solo career, becoming one of America's favourite soul icon, in the likes of Aretha Franklin.

Tina Turner's life has been anything but a walk in the park. Her first marriage was scarred by abuse, and she lost two of her sons only four years apart. Her first son Craig took his own life in 2018, and her second son Ronnie died of cancer in December 2022.

Tina Turner succumbed to intestinal cancer

Tina Turner was first diagnosed with intestinal cancer in 2016. A year later, her current husband, German music executive Erwin Bach, gave her one of his kidneys to save her life, as she was contemplating assisted suicide. In recent years, the soul icon had suffered a stroke and kidney disease.

Only six weeks prior to her death, the singer gave one of her last interviews to The Guardian. When the diva was asked how she wants to be remembered after her death, she answered 'as the Queen of Rock n' Roll'.
