Thomas Powell: Former Islander undergoes breast reduction operation

The 30-year-old, who came to prominence on the second series of Love Island in 2016, has revealed to fans his struggles with gynaecomastia.

Breaking taboos
The fitness coach, who decided to open up about his condition in order to break outdates taboos, livestreamed his surgery to incite those suffering from the disease to undergo the simple operation. He explained:
More under this adMore under this adI thought we should get it out there while we can! Why not show people the full surgery from start to finish? Then they might be less scared and more willing to take the plunge It’s not huge for me, but sometimes I can see it in t-shirts and clothes.
And added:
But I reckon 75 per cent of men that go to gyms have it and they’re too afraid to talk about it. And I think by me opening up on my social media channels it might help other lads feel more confident.More under this adMore under this ad
What is gynaecomastia?
Gynaecomastia is a condition whereby people who identify as men have their breast tissue swell and become larger than what is normal. Dr John Skevofilax, Chief of Surgery at Signature Clinics as well as the surgeon responsible for Powell's operation, explained that:
