‘Silly cow’: Former Love Islanders reportedly had a one-hour fight, here’s what they have to say about it

Maura Higgins and Faye Winter are known for being ex-Love Island contestants with big personalities. The pair attended the National Television Awards last night, on Tuesday 5 September, and brought some villa-worthy drama along with them to the boozy afterparty.

They were seen - and unfortunately for them, filmed - having what looked like an animated row at the bar as a star-studded crowd comes and goes around them. The Sun reported that the heated exchange lasted an hour and was only brought to an end after a friend intervened and separated the two women.

What were the former Islanders fighting about?

The girls were reportedly fighting over a pair of shoes, but it’s not what you think. Rather than this being a fashion stand-off, Maura was claiming that Faye threw her shoes at Maura earlier in the night.

Maura was looking tanned, having just returned from Fiji where she was working on the socials for the American version of Love Island. She was wearing a very glamorous and risqué black and pearl dress, so it’s understandable that the alleged shoe-throwing didn’t go down well.

It seems strange that Faye would have thrown her shoes, as they perfectly matched her sheer sequin dress, but reports stated that Maura seemed fully convinced that that is what happened.

The fight itself

One partygoer overheard Maura saying ‘Starting on you...don't point your finger at me’ as Faye did just that and Maura batted her hand away. The back-and-forth lasted an hour and Maura was far from calm even after it had all settled down.

She reportedly called Faye a ‘silly cow’, telling a friend ‘she’s f****** embarrassing’.

Maura then ordered a calming Pinot Noir, but was served a glass of water instead as the bar was closed. This obviously didn’t much help the star’s mood, and she cracked out another f-word: ‘What the f***, do we not get last orders?’

A fellow attendee has noted that both women ‘looked a bit worse for wear’.

Maura and Faye have denied the claims

The former Islanders have since taken to social media to explain this is all a big misunderstanding. Maura posted The Sun's article on her Instagram story and called the whole thing 'Borrrringgg!!!!’:

Can’t have a passionate conversation without people videoing and press trying to turn women against one another… ILY @faye__winter no drama here love

A few minutes later, Faye reposted the above and added:

I mean she calls me a silly cow most days and she ain’t wrong. and I can confirm no designer shoes were disrespected in the conversation

So, maybe they’re patching it up or maybe it was never that big of a deal. Either way, we have enjoyed the tea.
