Taylor Swift is a music icon and has reached millions of people around the world with her music. After first having to cancel her world tour, she now seems to be in the middle of a dispute with her former record label which could even endanger her future career.
Taylor isn’t allowed to perform her songs
On 24th November, TayTay will be honoured at this year’s American Music Awards when she receives the ‘Artist of the Decade’ award. For anyone else, this would be quite a joyous occasion and something to celebrate, but it seems the situation also has a downside.

This means, among other things, that for now, Taylor is not allowed to perform these songs, even though that’s exactly what the superstar wants to do. During the American Music Awards, she originally wanted and had planned to perform a medley of some of her biggest hits, but that doesn’t look like it will be possible. This scandal has shaken the music industry quite deeply.
Taylor has been asking her fans and other artists for support in this scandal. Her fans took it upon themselves to create the hashtag #IstandwithTaylor to express their anger with the record bosses. The singer has also received support from other artists such as Halsey, Camilla Cabello and Lily Allen.

One of her best friends, Selena Gomez, is also by the 29-year-old singer’s side when she can be. On Instagram, she posted a rather long message about Taylor’s situation. Here’s an extract:

The record label is holding their ground
But of course, Scooter Braun has also released his own statement because he doesn’t want any accusations or bad press to fall on him. According to him, the company has tried to come to an agreement with Taylor Swift, although so far without success. In addition, apparently Taylor owes the label ‘Big Machine Records’ seven million dollars for various posts and videos.
