Phillip Schofield: This is why the presenter will not be getting a divorce anytime soon

Phillip Schofield has been the subject of gossip ever since a scandal surfaced in May 2023. At the time, it was revealed that Schofield had had an affair with a younger male member of staff.

Following these revelations, Schofield resigned from both This Morning and ITV after more than 20 years as a star of the channel. Moreover, Schofield was dropped from his talent agency and lost support from within the entertainment industry.

But one person stood by his side: his wife Stephanie Lowe.

‘The love is still very much there’

In an article published by Express on 14 November, it has been revealed by an unnamed source that the couple will be spending the holiday season together. This is the first holiday that the couple will spend together after the scandal around Schofield unfolded.

The source said:

Even if the love they shared in the beginning of their marriage is different to what it is now, the love is still very much there.

The couple married in 1993 and have two adult daughters. According to the Daily Mail the pair met when they were both working at the BBC. She was a production assistant.

Phillip Schofield’s support system

2023 has been a difficult year for Phillip Schofield and his family. However, this isn’t the first time that they have had challenging times because of revelations concerning the presenter.

In 2020, Phillip Schofield came out as gay. Through this, his wife Stephanie Lowe stuck with him and, though the pair aren’t technically a couple, they are still married.

This year, when scandal like no other wrapped the presenter he had kind words for his wife. In his statement he wrote:

I am painfully conscious that I have lied to my employers at ITV, to my colleagues and friends, (...) and most importantly of all to my family. I am so very, very sorry, as I am for having been unfaithful to my wife...

In his now famous BBC interview, he apologised to her again and revealed that she was ‘very angry’ with him after finding out that he had cheated on her while they were a couple. However, he also thanked her and their daughters for their support.

For many the fact that Lowe is still married to Schofield is surprising but an anonymous source told Ok!there is very simple reason for that.

Steph is, and always will be, Phillip’s support system (...) She hasn’t divorced him because she doesn’t want to see him fall any further.

The insider also adds that the bond between the two is strong and that, though they have gone through many ups and downs there are still many things keeping them together.

It’s telling that they will spend Christmas together again as a family. He is the father of her daughters, after all, and the girls love him dearly

Phil has caused his wife a lot of hurt in recent times, but there’s no denying, they still have a great friendship and share a lot of love.
