Paul O’Grady’s friend, Christopher Biggins told The Sun that Paul already had heart problems 15 years ago. Indeed the actor talked about one of the trips he took with Paul O’Grady and Cilla in Spain:

He explained that O’Grady acting ‘like a teenager as far as his health was concerned — he didn’t listen.’
Biggins revealed that he often looked out for Paul even though he wasn’t concerned about his health. He retold the time he asked him if was still smoking, which O’Grady had denied despite there being smoke in his hotel room.

Biggins is also convinced that Paul was smoking the week before he died. As reported by Mirror, Paul O’Grady had suffered several heart attacks and a bad case of Covid-19 prior.
