Molly-Mae’s health

After a string of medical issues—she also recently had surgery to remove lumps from her finger and breast—Molly-Mae is hoping not to have to visit the hospital again for a while. However, she has promised that she will soon do a special Q&A video to answer fans’ questions about her endometriosis surgery. Many of her followers praised her for raising awareness for the condition—which affects one in 10 women in the UK.

What is endometriosis?

Endometriosis is a condition in which tissue similar to the lining of the womb grows in other places, like the ovaries and fallopian tubes. It affects 10% of women worldwide. Despite how common it is, it takes an average of eight years to get a diagnosis following the onset of symptoms. These symptoms can include extremely painful periods, pain during or after sex and pain in the lower tummy and back. Endometriosis can also lead to fertility issues.

While there are treatments available to ease the symptoms of endometriosis, there is currently no cure. Treatments range from the use of painkillers or hormonal medicines like the pill to surgery to remove patches of endometriosis tissue. In some cases, surgery can be performed to remove the affected organs.
