Maya Jama talks about how Summer Love Island is ‘special’

Maya Jama, who took over the presenting duties from Laura Whitmore, confessed that hosting her first summer series on the iconic dating reality show feels ‘special.’ Maya Jama revealed:

It feels so exciting, I was full of nerves for my first series because I was wondering what it would be like. Now, I know I feel really ready and excited, I just can't wait to get started!

Speaking to OK! Magazine, she added:

It’s special. I feel now (after) the first one, I’ve got it and we’ve done it, all the nerves are gone a bit and now I’m ready to go.

I’m so excited. It’s coming around so fast, I feel like we were just doing it yesterday and now it’s like ‘back at it again.’

Maya - who may be back with Stormzy - will be returning to our TV screens on June 5 as she kicks off the Summer series. Speaking about how Summer Love Island has changed her life, she confirmed:

It definitely changed stuff. My mum was like ‘before it would be just young people that would be like ‘Oh your daughter’ and now it’s the nans, even though you wouldn’t expect them to watch Love Island.’

Maya Jama talks about the pressure before starting Summer Love Island

However, despite her excitement, Maya is also worried about the high expectations set during the last series. She said:

Now there’s a bit more of an expectation, I just want to make sure that I live up to that expectation again….

The pressure is on for my stylist because the dresses did very well last series!

The only pressure I feel is because it went well last time, so I just want to keep it well.
