Love Island’s Laura Whitmore hits back at claims she’s absent from the show

Although she’s the host of Love Island, Laura Whitmore has been seen on the main show for just 12 minutes so far this series. She headed into the villa to introduce the Islanders to each other and oversee the first coupling up ceremony but she then flew back to London and hasn’t returned to Majorca since.

This week, a fan pointed this out, tweeting her: 'When is @thewhitmore going back into the villa? She’s literally been in once’. Laura promptly responded:

Hosting live show from London weekly, think you’d enjoy it if you watched! I’ve got great roaming package for the aul spanish texts at the mo.

Referring to the famous texts that the Islanders receive to warn them of new arrivals, dumpings or challenges, Laura joked on her Twitter page:

Lads these texts are costing me a fortune now.. my roaming plan was EU package and sure that’s no use to me now. Might have to start pay as you go.

Majorca moves to Amber list

With Majorca being moved to the UK’s Amber Covid list from Monday, we may be even less likely to see Laura heading to the villa going forward. Anyone returning from an amber list country from then will have to isolate for a minimum of 5 days—unless they have been fully vaccinated by the NHS.

Meanwhile, Laura’s husband Iain Stirling has also missed out on his usual trip to Majorca this year, as he is recording the Love Island voice-overs from a studio in London due to the uncertainty. He joked earlier this summer:
