Love Island: Demi Jones announces she’s cancer-free

Winter Love Island star Demi Jones took to Instagram this week to share the brilliant news that her treatment for thyroid cancer has been successful. Demi was initially diagnosed with thyroid cancer in May after having surgery to remove a lump on her thyroid. She has since undergone radiation treatment.

Sharing a photo of herself smiling outside the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, Demi wrote:
I’M CANCER FREE!!!! I did it! 🥺🎉 I got my full body scan results back and there’s not a single cancer cell left in my body 🙌 it’s been such a difficult year mentally and physically for me with my surgeries and treatment but I’m beyond grateful for everyone’s kindness and support over this past year 🙏 I will continue to be an advocate for cancer awareness and all my love and strength goes out to those who continue to fight this awful disease, here’s to a healthy and happy 2022❤️❤️❤️More under this adMore under this ad
Demi was showered with love in the comments section from a host of reality stars and fellow former Islanders, including Anna Vakili, Eva Zapico, Sophie Piper and villa bestie Shaughna Phillips. She also received support from her Strictly The Real Full Monty co-stars Christine McGuinness and Ashley Banjo.

As part of her dedication to being an advocate for cancer awareness, Demi is currently appearing on this year’s edition of Strictly The Real Full Monty. In it, she and a collection of other stars are set to strip off in a ‘musical dance extravaganza’ in front of a live Blackpool audience. The first episode aired last night and the second will air tonight (Tuesday 14 December) at 9pm on ITV.
Coached by Diversity star Ashley Banjo, Demi will be joined on stage by fellow Islander Teddy Soares, EastEnders’ Laila Morse (Big Mo), presenter Martin Roberts, ex-Strictly pros James and Ola Jordan, Blue’s Duncan James, former Olympic athlete Colin Jackson, Loose Woman Brenda Edwards and model Christine McGuinness.
