Kanye West is suing a Melbourne-based burger joint for 'deception'. Here's why.

The details of the lawsuit

West’s team has allegedly filed a 43-page document to the federal court. The legal team claims that using West’s album name and brand identity is causing severe damage to the musician. They are asking Elkhouri to withdraw his Australian trademark application for his brand and remove any references or material that relates to West.

A homage to Ye

As per Broadsheet, Elkhouri has admitted that West is his hero, and the restaurant was a homage to him, rather than competition. But, someone as big as West suing a small humble establishment is something the owner cannot fathom.

A homage to Ye

This legal back-and-forth has resulted in Elkhouri painting over the mural of the teddy bear that was inspired by the College Dropout album. And the restaurant is said to be changing the names of the items on its menu which pays homage to Ye.

Elkouri still holds Ye in the highest regard, despite being disappointed by the rapper’s reaction to his restaurant. Imitation isn’t the sincerest form of flattery for Ye after all.
